August 2006

August wasn't a terribly productive month at the home. Ronnie spent much of the month harvesting crops and - thanks to the drought - using his dozer to clean out stock tanks all over the Fedor area. Local landowners were in quite a hurry to get their tanks cleaned out.... you know, in case it actually started raining again. Mary Ann, on the other hand, spent most of the month working hard at keeping the landscape alive and otherwise staying out of the 100+ heat as much as possible. Both of us also spent considerable time getting prepared for the Fedor VFD annual fish fry fund raiser. For the past 16 or so years, we've been in charge of getting 1305 lbs of fish fillets thawed, cut, rinsed, drained and prepared for breading. This year, we obtained fresh fish from the Texas Aquaculture folks near Markham, so we didn't have to contend with the thawing aspect. We did, however, have the added task of getting them breaded and prepared for the fryers.

Despite all these distractions, we did get most of the remaining exterior woodwork finished!
